Saying Goodbye...

Walking along the beachside promenade for the last time...
Enjoying the Botanical Garden for the last time...
Going to the Durban University of Technology for the last time...
Hitting the gym at the university one last time...
Slowly saying goodbye to all the people we met here...

Thank you all for making this semester abroad as great as it was!
Tomorrow it is goodbye Durban...for now!

An intimate afternoon with...Seether!

On Saturday I went to a small Festival near Gateway Theatre of Shopping. The location; Chris Suanders Park is really nice, as the stage is placed on a small lake in the center of an amphitheatre style park.
Although I knew only the last 2 acts, it was a nice afternoon.
Generally there are many nce events in Umhlanga, so if you get the chance, try to spend some time in that area. It is also easily accessible by taking a minibus from Warwick Junction for R12.

The Factory Café

I have been to my first MakerSpace today. It is located in a Café called "The Factory Café" (https://www.facebook.com/thefactorycafe) here in Durban. It includes a Café with great coffee and food being served by great baristas, friendly and helpful in every aspect. But what is even more interesting is the MakerSpace: the back of the Café is open for artists of all caliber and kind. There I have encountered my first live 3D printer and saw a bunch of other interesting works of art in progress or finished. Also several events take place at the venue, including live music, pop-up shops, etc. All in all it is a very nice place to just hang out, get some work done, become creative or simply have a coffee.

20 year Anniversary of the DDP

Yesterday I have been to a Black Tie event at the Southern Sun Elangeni Hotel in Durban. I was joining a lady from the German Chamber of Commerce in Southern Africa to this event. She had invited me when I met her at the chamber for research. I even had to hire a suit for this, but the event was definitely worth it!

Food and Old Biscuit Mill

Speaking about food... of course there is Bunny Chow, which you must try once you're in Durban.

[Fotos vom Essen, welches wir gemacht haben]

In Cape Town we have been to the Old Biscuit Mill (Hipster Market),
which is very european with lots of different fresh prepared food and drinks.
Craft Beer, Wine, Coffee etc. ... you can basically go there in the mornings and stay from breakfast till lunch... enjoy your BRUNCH and do some shopping as well.

Or just enjoy homemade pizza...

Away with the Fairies...

        (Paddy taking a hot bath)

This Morning we left Port Elisabeth with the BazBus and took off to East London, where a Shuttle Bus was waiting for us to Hogsback.

...

This Saturday we went on a hiking trip to the Madonna Waterfalls...

And when we finally got back to the Fairies (Backpackers) it was time for a bath with an Amazing View...

Mountainbiking Table Mountain

A couple of days ago Ina, Maren and me wanted to tackle Table Mountain kind of differently. So we grabbed some bikes at Downhill Adventures and hit the streets of Cape Town.  Whilst the climb to the cable car station was weary and muscle bursting for someone who hasn't been biking (in a sporty sense that is) for quite a while now, the different perspectives and experiences were definitely worth while.

Cape Town -> Stellenbosch

This Morning we had to say Good Bye to a lot of fellow Backpackers and our Dear students from CPUT, we really had an awesome 2-3 weeks in Cape Town!

So, now we're in Stellenbosch, such a lovely little town, I would rather describe it as a huge Campus in the middle of big winegrowing area.
The Stellenbosch University is quite famous with it's 27.800 students. We've spent the whole afternoon on campus brainstorming for our future project "MP2" and came up with a few very good ideas :)

...their "Mensa" (Cafeteria) looks more like a food court inside a small Mall, which is quite nice.

... Tomorrow we'll face a long BazBus ride all the way up the garden route to Jeffrey's Bay ...
